Yesterday I was at my parents house for dinner and my mom mentioned that we have 5 months until we go to Disney World. What 5 months?!? We have been planning this trip for over a year and I cannot believe it is now 5 months away. I am totally freaking out.
Why?
Because instead of a year to lose 50 pounds I now only have 5 months. Shit! I have to admit I am really disappointed in myself. I mean it is not like I don't know how to lose weight and get in shape. But like I said before in my post "this is why I am fat" for some reason I cannot wrap my brain around getting in shape. And if July comes around and I am still 175 (did I just type that) I am going to be so pissed.
I need to make some changes right now. And I am going to use this blog as a way to hold myself accountable. Kind of like what I am doing with my finances. Interested on how hubby and I are working towards financial fitness check out this post and this one.
Ok enough about money..see I get sidetracked so easily.
Back to getting in shape.
Well first of all I have 3 things that I really want to get in shape for:
- Hubby and I are going to the prom in June. He is in charge of prom this year at the High School he works at and we are going.
- Like I said we are going to Disney. Which means Florida. And in July. So it is going to be hotter than hell and I know skinny people are happier in hotter weather.
- I just want to be comfortable this summer and wear a bathing suit. Is that so much to ask. I used to look hot in a bathing suit.
So those are my three superficial weight loss goals. Of course with that comes being healthy on the inside which I want. But I will be honest I want to look hot at prom and at the hotel pool in Disney.
Here is my game plan.
Small changes. Baby steps. I have been thinking a lot about this since the "5 months and its here" reality check. So this is what I am going to do this week.
- No eating after 7:00pm. Water only.
- I am going to speed walk 45 minutes 4 days this week on my treadmill (that is in my basement).
OK I know this is not a lot but like I said I need to start small. I need to work on breaking some very bad habits like eating late at night and total lack of exercise. So I will work on those this week.
Tuesday is going to be my weigh in and accountability day. So as of today 2/16/10 I weigh 175 pounds. My goal is 145 by June 1st. Yikes I hope I can do it.
Here I go. Wish me luck! And feel free to offer any tips you may have for me.

@lifewithkaishon I need to do baby steps. If I try any big changes I will surely fail. Good luck! And thank you for joining in on the discussion.

Good luck to you! I’m in the same boat. I need to lose 15 pounds and I’ve been saying that for 7 months now. I can’t seem to stay motivated. Perhaps we could help each other! You can do it!

@aplaceforthoughts yes lets motivate each other! I have to do this!

you can do it!! i think that goal is totally doable, and your 45 minutes on the treadmill is more than i am doing right now. I have a wedding in 5 months, and am also starting to take steps to get serious. I think you will notice the changes in your not eating after 7:00. you should also cut out soda if you drink that too…
good luck!!!

@lauren I agree the no eating after 7:00pm should help a lot. I just hope I can get on that damn treadmill. Seriously I do not know when I got this lazy!

Good luck! I did Disney last September and that heat doesn’t make anyone happy, but I hope you are able to use it as all the motivation you need to reach your goals.

I literally could’ve written this post. I’m going to Disney in July as well and have been telling myself for over a year that I have “x months” to lose “x pounds.” Over the last month and a half I’ve really gotten into the shred, and its helping, but I don’t feel like I’m losing anything fast enough that I’ll get to where I want by July.
Good luck! I know motivation is hard – I’m also doing baby steps. Plus, I keep imagining the Dumbo I’m riding falling off the ride with my son and I in it.

@Beth P how funny. I think weight loss is one of many things that all of moms can relate too. We all want it so bad but it is so hard. AT least for me it is.

Hey there girl! I work out at 5 a.m. to get it over with. I know, I know, most folks think it’s crazy…but picture yourself at 9:00 at work and you suddenly realize “I ALREADY worked out today! I am a ROCK STAR!” I got to Pilates on Tuesday and Thursday nights so that I don’t have to get up so freakin’ early every morning. I’m a class girl….I need a class. I last 10 minuteson the treadmill before I’m all “good NIGHT this is boooooring!”. Anyhoo….another tip (and yes, the no eating after 7 is a good one). But I have PCOS (I blog/bitch about it sometimes). This means my metabolism hates me. I don’t believe in dieting, but I had to start watching my carbs. My friend who is a dietician told me to follow the diabetic rules. Here’s how it works: take total number of carbs in a food and subtract the grams of fiber. For example, it has 34 grams of carbs and 4 grams of fiber….your number is 30. Every 15 equals a “point”….you shoot for 10 to 11 points for the day. (No, it’s not weight watchers, they do it a little different). I eat what I want…. really! and a couple of my friends started following the same rule and love it. Good luck sister….you can do this! Visualize me cheering you on!

I’m in the same boat, too. Must be the size of a yaught!
I’ve got about 15 pounds or so I’d LOVE to lose! Ok. Step #1 – No more snacking after dinner for me. Step #2 – Use my treadmill. Here we go!

Good Luck! I need to get some motivation to start working out again. I used to be so good about it. But the job got busier, the baby came and now… I eat Oreo’s for dinner and the only exercise I get is walking across the parking lot.
Anyway, best of luck to you. I’ll be cheering you on and maybe will even get my butt on a treadmill in the spirit of things!

Stopping by from MBC- FFF
I love to hula hoop on the wiifit. It’s fun and slims your whole body.
Also- what I have found is that you need to eat breakfast & then have a healthy snack & lunch &snack & dinner-then try not to eat about 2 hours before bed. Eating smaller meals & more often helps boost your metabolism.

I am rooting for you. I just started the Jillian shred. You get 20 minutes of a work out that is equivalent to an hour in the gym. I am so sore after 2 days…but it’s a great workout. I found mine at Costco for $7.99. She works on strength, cardio and abs within 20 minutes. When you are short on time you should try this.

Oh boy, I know how you feel! I too am reinventing my body and my health and I use my blog to keep accountable as well. Let’s keep in touch so we can support one another. I weigh in @ Weight Watchers every Tuesday so that is usually when I post my updates.
I am also a BIG BIG WDW fan. We try to go once a year. You guys will have so fun, but yeah it will be so hot and humid when you are there. Good reason to try and drop a few pounds!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I’m excited to get to know you through your blog! Have a wonderful weekend!!
